Frequently asked questions
Does VaporPro meet ASTM E1745 Class A requirements?
Yes. VaporPro is third-party independently tested and meets or exceeds ASTM E1745 Class A requirements in every gauge we offer — 10 mil, 15 mil, and 20 mil. Each film exceeds the Class A thresholds for puncture resistance and tensile strength, and permeance is well below the 0.1 perm maximum both as new material and after all ASTM E154 conditioning cycles. Current data sheets with full test values are available for each thickness. For gauge-specific numbers, ask our chat assistant — it can provide the data sheet directly in the conversation.
Which thickness should I specify for my project?
Start with your project specification: if the drawings or specs name a mil thickness, ASTM classification, or approved product, follow that requirement. As general guidance, 10 mil suits lower-risk applications with limited jobsite damage exposure, 15 mil adds durability for normal construction traffic, and 20 mil is built for heavy traffic, higher puncture risk, or rougher site conditions. All three gauges meet ASTM E1745 Class A, so the decision typically comes down to durability rather than vapor performance. Not sure which fits your job? Describe your project to our chat assistant for a side-by-side comparison of the three gauges.
What installation standard should be followed?
VaporPro should be installed in accordance with ASTM E1643, the standard practice for installing vapor retarders under concrete slabs. In summary: place the film over a level, compacted base; overlap seams a minimum of 6 inches; seal seams with a low-permeance seam tape; and seal all penetrations so the barrier remains continuous. Inspect and repair any damage before concrete placement, and follow your project specification wherever it is more restrictive. Our chat assistant can walk you through the steps and provide the full installation guide PDF.
What documents are available for submittal and closeout?
We maintain a complete documentation package for specification, submittal, and closeout: technical data sheets for each gauge (10, 15, and 20 mil), the installation guide, the safety data sheet (SDS), warranty documentation, seam tape technical data, and the VaporPro product booklet. All documents reflect the current product revisions and are available for download. For the fastest route, ask our chat assistant for the document you need and it will provide the PDF directly in the chat.
